New poem up at Verse-Virtual

Thanks to Firestone Feinberg and Verse-Virtual for selecting my poem “Two Children on the Seaside Rocks” for the June issue. It’s based on an oil painting by my great-great-grandfather, Jonathan Bradley Morse (my mother’s great-grandfather on her father’s side), which hangs on the wall in my study above my computer. I think it was painted at Cape Ann, Gloucester, Massachusetts where he and my g-g-grandmother, Eleanor Ecob Morse, went to paint every summer. They were both well-known painters in the mid-to-late 1800s.

When I learn better how to take a photo w/ my new tablet and post it, I may update this post with a photo of the painting. Meanwhile, here’s the link:

Two Haibun published

I so pleased that two of my haibun appear in the September issue of  Contemporary Haibun Online. I love writing haibun—exploring combining poetic prose with haiku that expand the circles of meaning.
