My most recent books are The Resonance Around Us; One Bowl ; Recycling Starlight ; The Night Marsh; Lizard Light: Poems From the Earth; and Buried in the Sky. The Beastie Book, my children’s alphabestiary of rhyming poems for completely imaginary “beasties”, with marvelous illustrations was published late December of 2009. A new collection, A Prayer the Body Makes, is forthcoming from Kelsay Books / Aldrich Press in 2021.
Widely published in journals and anthologies, I have won three poetry fellowships from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts, The Mary Carolyn Davies Award from the Poetry Society of America, & the William O. Douglas Nature Writing Award.
In January, 2011, and again in March 2015, I enjoyed writing fellowships / residencies at Virginia Center for the Creative Arts (VCCA). After my husband William J. (Bill) Higginson’s death in October, 2008, I moved to the South Jersey shore are to be closer to my daughter and her family. I continue to work as a teaching poet for the New Jersey State Council on the Arts, as well as an independent teaching artist in the schools.
